July
by Susan Hartley Swett
When the scarlet cardinal tells
Her dream to the dragonfly,
And the lazy breeze makes a nest in the trees,
And murmurs a lullaby,
It's July.
When the tangled cobweb pulls
The cornflower's cap awry,
And the lilies tall lean over the wall
To bow to the butterfly,
It's July.
When the heat like a mist veil floats,
And poppies flame in the rye,
And the silver note in the streamlet's throat
Has softened almost to a sigh,
It's July.
When the hours are so still that time
Forgets them, and lets them lie
Underneath petals pink till the night stars wink
At the sunset in the sky,
It's July.
What do the noises that the speaker calls out—the lullaby the breeze murmurs and the soft sigh of the streamlet—represent in "July"?
A. the speaker's desire to break from the laziness of summer
B. the startling beauty of summer days
C. the peacefulness of the long, slow days of summer.
D. the intense heat of mid-summer days
Answer:
C.) The peacefulness of the long, slow days of summer.Explanation:
During the poem, it explains how every little thing is blooming slowly in summer. It also says, "When the hours are so still that time
Forgets them" this means that the time is going by very slowly so the days are long. While they explain about all of the nature it makes the poem peaceful. I also took the test and this is 100% correct.

Look at the following commentary on "Cupid and Psyche" from Bulfinch's Mythology. The fable of Cupid and Psyche is usually considered allegorical. The Greek name for a butterfly is Psyche, and the same word means the soul. There is no illustration of the immortality of the soul so striking and beautiful as the butterfly, bursting on brilliant wings from the tomb in which it has lain, after a dull, groveling caterpillar existence, to flutter in the blaze of day and feed on the most fragrant and delicate productions of the spring. Psyche, then, is the human soul, which is purified by sufferings and misfortunes, and is thus prepared for the enjoyment of true and pure happiness. In your journal, reflect on Bulfinch's analysis of the story's theme. Do you agree or disagree with his analysis? Why or why not? What new questions does this analysis of "Cupid and Psyche" bring to mind? Can you answer them? If not, does it matter? Explain.
Answer:
Well slightly you could say that it being called "allegorical" would go with the theme, the theme may be jealousy which could be the reason Venus gave all the nearly impossible (and inevitable) tasks to do, although Venus was possibly jealous because of Cupid liking Psyche and Psyche being mortal.
The statement fits with the theme of the story, because it wasn't made clear or stated that Venus was jealous, it used her actions to foreshadow (is that the right word for it?) the theme. Similar to how Psyche means soul and butterfly and how her soul is made immortal, like a transition for a caterpillar to a butterfly.
(for the sake of you not having it given back, edit it to look like you wrote it pls. this was my actual answer for this question when i got it)
Well, in a way, you could say that the fact that it is called "allegorical" fits with the theme; the theme might be jealousy, which might explain why Venus gave everyone the nearly impossible tasks to complete. Venus may have been jealous because Cupid liked Psyche and Psyche was mortal, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Venus was.
What do you know about Bulfinch's ?Thomas Bulfinch, an American banker and Latinist, gathered a number of myth and legend tales that he revised for a general readership and had published as Bulfinch's Mythology after his demise in 1867. By the work, English-speaking readers were successfully introduced to Greek mythology.
It was "one of the most popular books ever published in the United States and the standard work on classical mythology for nearly a century," according to Carl J. Richard and John Talbot of Brigham Young University, up until the release of classicist Edith Hamilton's 1942 book Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes.

(2) Nyad, a veteran of several marathons swims, wants to set a new world record for the longest open-water swim. coach’s whistle. (12) The salt water would even affect her senses of taste, touch, and smell.
(13) In addition to extreme physical exhaustion, Nyad was aware of the many dangers she would face in the water. (14) During earlier marathons schools of jellyfish had repeatedly stung her. (15) On Nyad’s Bahamas-to-Florida swim, a shark appeared.

In some instances, propaganda is used to dehumanise and incite hatred toward an alleged adversary, whether internal or foreign, by instilling a false perception of that enemy in the minds of soldiers and civilians.
What is Prpaganda ?Propaganda will exaggerate and manipulate information to fit a particular narrative. It can be incredibly deceptive if someone does not precisely understand the context of a situation, and this is how it is employed as a weapon.propaganda against the military of the enemy.
Propaganda was employed against opponents as well as to try and sway public opinion in neutral nations. All sides have employed aeroplanes and balloons to drop flyers and posters over warring troops and civilians since the beginning of the war.
